I know this may be bad form, but can anyone recommend an active forum for hearing loss? I understand there are technical issues here (I'm on phone as Ipad doesn't work at all) so in the absence of easy access here, hope it's ok asking the question!
A few alt forums, hearinglikeme.com, UK Hearing loss community, seem to have moved to Facebook, which is great for those open about these things with friends, family, work colleagues, etc , but in my situation, which was sudden loss last week, the last thing I want to do is strutt round Facebook announcing my situation, and competing with this weeks online dramas.
Any recommendations of easy places to chat/share?
Thanks guys. Its a shame there are diffculties with the forum, but I will persist Ashleigh, (logging on via phone does work, so Im emailing myself to cut and paste) but can I just say just this forum has been a great source of info just going back reading old posts. So a generalised thank you to all admins and previous posters who’ve shared their experiences, lets hope its back up running and lively again soon.
Hi Cornishandy, Im not hesitant about online trolls or anything, Im sure every social media area has it, and Im a big girl :) its just Im not a particularly ‘open’ person in my own social circles thats all. My failing I know, but there it is. Oh and hi tiptop, thanks for replying, lets keep cracking on!
I didnt have a good day yesterday, so Ill start a thread later this evening re my sudden hearing loss which someone too may find helpful as well as giving me a place to vent! No interaction neccesary. If its helpful to someone thats fab, but its dumped in the right place, and I know Ill find it helpful just writing it down. Hope its not too ‘essay’ like, but pre-typing and cutting and pasting, does take the whole ‘chit chat’ element out, so apols for that. Thanks again guys, Caroline.

Caroline, I can fully understand what you mean, this forum used to a great place to come and chat, but since it was ‘upgraded’ the changes have been disastrous. Fixes have been promised since August of last year, but nothing appears to have happen for most of us using tablets. Hence the frustration and lack of posts and reply’s. It’s just too much hassle to actively try and use this forum at the moment.
Thank you for your post.
We understand that there are issues with the forum at the moment and numbers have started drop. However the forum is still a safe environment to come to for information advise and support so please continue to post and the active forum members and ourselves will do our best to assist where we can.
As CornishAndy has said, we are working towards getting the issues resolved and are hoping the numbers will start to rise again.
Normally we have a lot of chat going on in here and historically we've had quite a nice community going. But unfortunately over the last year we have suffered first of all from an intense and prolonged spam attack and now that the software has been upgraded it seems to be taking forever to produce a legible forum. Understandably a lot of the members have melted away and gone to Facebook. Not all the groups on Facebook are hostile, it is a matter of lurking in a few places until you find one that suits you. There are a few large deaf groups for specialised things such as CI's or BAHA's and these are usually friendly and supportive. It's just a matter of finding a nice crowd. If they become abusive or nasty just walk away.Meanwhile we are waiting for the forum to be changed to a more reader-friendly style and then we can start to rebuild the scattered community.
