Deaf-blind man enjoys World Cup match with help of interpreters

A deaf-blind football fan was able to enjoy the magic of the World Cup through the help of an interpreter who showed him what was happening on a model of the pitch.

Brazilian football fan Carlos Junior celebrated the victory of his team against Costa Rica in the second round of the World Cup with the help of two of his friends.

Mr Junior was born deaf and his eyesight began to deteriorate when he was 17 years old due to Usher syndrome, a rare genetic disorder which affects a person's seeing and hearing ability.
