I have just got the dreaded letter of doom informing me of PIP changes, as i still get JSA with Disability Premimum what happens to the DP while i am being assessed?
And also if I do not get PIP and I ask for a review will it be backdated
I am sorry if this has been asked before but this is my first post and hopefully I am allowed one wee mistake thanks a lot in advance
I was hoping that someone better informed than me would answer this. The fact is that many of these supplementary benefits are dependent on getting other benefits like DLA, PIP or ESA. If you get any two of those you may qualify for Disability Premium, subject to a few other things like whether or not you live alone, whether you get a pension or pension credit and other things like that. There is also Severe Disability Premium which depends on getting Disability Premium plus all the other things. For people who qualify it can be a fair amount of extra money but finding your way through the mass of rules and regulations is quite hard. Other benefits are sometimes counted and there are rules to prevent people from claiming two of them at once. The rules are incredibly complicated. So that is why I was hoping that someone else would explain.
Hi, sorry nobody has replied. If you’re being assessed for PIP, then I would have thought that does not affect your DP, as PIP is separate from income replacement benefits. I would suggest trying your local CAB or council welfare rights department, as RNID don’t care about unemployed deaf people.
