Hi - just started new job. On occasions I may attend networking events. I struggle to hear people in noisy rooms. I just explain my difficulties and ask if the person would be happy to move elsewhere quiter to continue discussion.
Any other top tips on how to network with people when you have a hearing loss?
I struggle, used to work in finance but can no longer hear well on the phone so swapped jobs to set up my own dog walking/boarding/pet sitting business. Means I don't have to cope with talking to too many people BUT also means some days I rarely speak at all, can be v isolating & not sure it's helping my hearing loss either.
Ps Cornish? Me too, originally anyway!
Nice to see that there were no injuries in the rush to reply.Quite honestly networking is one of the hardest obstacles that deaf people have to tackle. The very definition of deafness includes the word "isolation" and that's what it means. Being left out of the loop. The last one to know. The last one standing up when someone shouts "Duck".
