i am a vehicle technician and work in a noisy environment and have used Phonak hearing aids for the last 5 years. On Monday I got replacements at my local hospital which are the Phonak Nathos Auto sp and I want my old ones back! Really struggling with them so will be going back to the hospital to get them adjusted and try again but what I’m wondering is has anyone brought the Phonak marvel? Or tried oticon and other brands. The sky Q seems popular but does going private help? Just want natural as possible sound. Also can we chose what colour aid we have from the hospital? Thanks Joe
If you haven't already you should take a look at the Hearing Aid Forums. You could post your problem on their and see if there are any suggestions from fellow users. There are quite a few audiologists who look at that forum as well. Also Hearing Tracker allows you to post questions that would be answered by audiologists.
Whilst there should be an adaption period as you get used to new hearing aids there should be a good improvement in using the Marvels compared to your Audeo S technology.
I hope your issues can be resolved.
Thank you for your response, I have an Iphone 6s and yes I do have Phonak's tv sender for the Marvel aids, my audiologist has played around with the settings but to no avail so far, I have one more appointment before I have to make the decision to hand them back, there is a suggestion Boots might give an extension.
It sounds like the Autosense Speech in Loud Noise programming is having difficulties with the extractor fan and radio. There are adjustments for the Speech in Loud Noise program that can be made by the Hearing Care Professional in the Phonak software that may help improve on the problems that you are having. The activation level (noise level) for the Speech in Loud Noise program can be adjusted as well as the transition speed.
What phone are you using the hearing aids with? Do you have the Phonak TV Connector specifically for the Marvel's?
I took delivery of a pair of Marvel aids in December, overall I am disappointed with them these were purchased from Boots and I have the option of returning them if I wish and get a full refund of the cost of over £3000.00. firstly the speech recognition is not as good as my old aids Phonak audio s, they are very clever and pick up many sounds that I don't want to hear, for instance with the radio on in the kitchen they will suddenly tune into the extractor fan and I can't hear the radio, or my wife talking, I have an Iphone which connects via bluetooth but is very difficult to achieve a good signal the best I have managed is to only one ear, I also have a TV sender again bluetooth, which is of poor quality, it has buttons for turning up or down the tv sound that don't work and drop out every so often and have to be retuned, I must say Boots have been very good and supportive and I have been under no pressure to keep the aids, I wrote to Phonak with a description of the problems but have had no reply. My added problem is that I have an implanted Pace Maker and most of the aids available require a neck loop for set up and nobody will supply them with a pace maker. I'm sorry to be so negative with this email but I thought these Marvel aids were going to be my answer but it seems my search will go on for the right devise.
There does not seem to be any recall programme in the NHS Audiology in Peterborough. So I simply make an appointment for a check on my hearing aids & my hearing loss. My current Resound Danalogic are perhaps the most uncomfortable set that I've ever had. They're still as uncomfortable today as five years ago. Ive bitten the bullet and gone private with Oticon...perhaps the best Ive ever worn...perhaps the most thorough assessment of my hearing made @ Hidden Hearing
