I'm trying to understand the difference between using something like the Oticon streamer and using a neck loop.
I understand that the streamer will pick up bluetooth from my phone so I don't need the streamer physically plugged in to it. But what I don't understand is how the streamer transmits sound to my hearing aids. The internet suggests that it won't work with the aids on telecoil, so if it isn't using a loop system, how does it work?
Can anyone enlighten me?
Hi the Streamer Pro does not transmit via telecoil, it's just a different type of wireless, simply. It's a short range transmission, so for effective streaming the Streamer Pro needs to sit mid chest, if it's any distance further than that you'll start to get audio drop-outs. This is a compromise to make sure the battery on the hearing aid does not take too much of a hit and drain too quickly with the extra streaming. Regards, Paul
Thank you very much Paul.
So, is the neckloop part of the transmission equipment, or is it just to make sure it sits on the right place on the chest?
Bit of both! The neckloop acts as an antenna and also makes sure the Streamer is placed optimally. Regards, Paul
